Where to Go For Record Store Day in Newcastle

Record Store Day Australia is on Saturday 21st April 2018. This is the one day when record stores come together with artists and record labels to celebrate the joy of music.

There are a range of limited releases, specials and promotions, along with live music in-store and artists dropping by to say hi.

We’re lucky to have a few choices in Newcastle for record stores. We’ve compiled a list of what’s on this Saturday for Record Store Day Australia.

Opening at 9am to sell records and to host vintage clothing stalls. Some of the records in stock for Saturday are a re-issue of The Necessaries – “Event Horizon”. It’s a lost early 80’s new wave classic on Sire Records. The Edwards Shop have the most impressive collection of records in Newcastle, and the people that sell them are always friendly and offering their guidance to help you find the right record (or two, or three…) for you.

Black Pug Records

80 Maitland Road, Islington 

Black Pug Records is an independent label based in Newcastle, NSW. They offer a selection of Vinyl and Out of print CDs as well as assorted merchandise.

The Famous Rock Shop

517 Hunter Street, Newcastle

The Famous Rock Shop have a huge range of records upstairs in store. New & Second Hand Vinyl Records. The Famous Rock Shop has been buying and selling vinyl for over 35 years in Newcastle.

The Mosh Pit

272 Main Road, Cardiff

LPs from $1, 45s from 50 cents. CDs from 50 cents. They’re serving pizza, a giant Mojito from 10.30am and you can go in the draw to win a $100 Gift Voucher for the shop when you buy something on the day. Open from 8am.

Stella Records

Moving out of their shop in Raymond Terrace, Stella Records now sell their collection at Maitland Showground on the 1st Sunday of each month. They will also be selling records at the Newcastle CD and record fair on the 29th of April (9am to 4pm) at Beaumont St Hamilton – Uniting Church Hall.
